In this tutorial, we’ll walk you through how to resolve the common error: “Unable to determine taxes of an item”. This error typically occurs during billing when the GST tax percentage is not defined for the item in the Item Master.


Identifying the Cause of the Error

  • While creating a Purchase Bill in Logic ERP.

  • After transacting an item and attempting to save the bill.

  • Error message displayed:

    “Unable to determine taxes.”

Root Cause

  • The GST tax rate is missing or undefined for the item in the Setup Items Multiple Packs/Sizes and click to Group Details tab.


Step-by-Step Solution

Step 1: Identify the Problem

  • Navigate to the Main Menu/Purchase and then open Purchase Bill.

  • Transact the item and attempt to save the bill.

  • Observe the error: “Unable to determine taxes.”

Step 2: Define GST Tax in Item Master

  • Navigate to the Main Menu/Setup/Setup Item and click on Setup Items Multiple Packs/Sizes.

  • Use the search bar to filter and locate the item causing the error.

  • Navigate to the Group Details tab.

  • In the GST Tax field, select the appropriate GST percentage from the dropdown.

  • Click Save to update the item configuration.

Step 3: Retry the Transaction

  • Go back to the Purchase Bill window.

  • Transact the same item again.

  • Try saving the bill.

Result: The bill is saved successfully without any error.
