## How to Numerically Auto Increment Item Name in Item Creation?

 In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of creating item names in **Logic ERP** using different components. By leveraging this feature, you can efficiently generate item names using predefined formulas and structures, ensuring consistency and accuracy in your inventory management.

### Accessing Item Name Configuration

1. Open **Logic ERP** and navigate to the main menu.
2. Go to **Setup Items** and click on **Multiple Pack Sizes**.
3. Locate the **Configuration** settings and open the **Item Name Form** feature.
4. Here, you will find different methods to create item names:
 * **Manual Entry**
 * **Group - 1 Short Name +1**
 * **Item Name Formula +1**

We will go through each of these methods one by one.

***

### 1. Creating Item Names via Manual Entry

* Click on the **Item Name Field**.
* Start typing the **desired item name manually**.
* Save the entry.

This method provides full flexibility, allowing users to enter item names without any predefined rules.

***

### 2. Creating Item Names Using "Group One Short Name +1"

1. First, enable this option in **Configuration**.
2. Ensure that **Group One** is defined and assigned a **Short Name**.
3. When creating an item, the system will automatically **append the Group One Short Name followed by an incrementing number (e.g., ABC1, ABC2, etc.).**

#### Benefits of Using "Group One Short Name +1"

* Helps categorize items efficiently.
* Ensures **unique identification** of items.
* Automatically increments the number as new items are added.

***

### 3. Creating Item Names Using "Item Name Formula +1"

1. Enable the **Item Name Formula +1** in **Configuration**.
2. To create an item name formula, go to Configuration 2 and click on "Item Name Formula."
3. Click here to [learn more](/logic-erp-learning-hub-tutorials-and-best-practices/setups/setup-items/setup-items-multiple-pack-sizes/configuration-multiple-packs-sizes/configuration-options-2/item-name-formula.md) about it.
4. Now, the item name will be automatically generated using the item name formula, along with a numeric value.

#### Benefits of Using "Item Name Formula +1"

* Eliminates **manual data entry errors**.
* Ensures **consistent** naming conventions.
* Saves time and increases efficiency.

### Conclusion

The **Item Name Generation Feature** in **Logic ERP** provides an efficient and structured approach to naming items. Whether using **manual entry, group short names, or formulas**, these options help maintain **consistency, accuracy, and automation** in your inventory management.

By leveraging this feature, businesses can streamline their **item creation process**, reduce manual errors, and ensure a well-organized database.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://kb.logicerp.com/logic-erp-learning-hub-tutorials-and-best-practices/setups/setup-items/setup-items-multiple-pack-sizes/configuration-multiple-packs-sizes/configuration-options-1/item-name-from.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
