## How to Enable Auto generation of Item Name in Item Modification?

 In this tutorial, we explore an essential feature of **Logic ERP**—applying item name formulas not only during the initial item creation but also when modifying an existing item. This ensures consistency and efficiency across your inventory.

### **Setting Up the Item Name Formula**

* To create an item name formula, go to Configuration 2 and click on "Item Name Formula."&#x20;
* Click here to [learn more](/logic-erp-learning-hub-tutorials-and-best-practices/setups/setup-items/setup-items-multiple-pack-sizes/configuration-multiple-packs-sizes/configuration-options-2/item-name-formula.md) about it.

### **Enabling the Item Name Formula in Modify Mode**

### **Modifying an Existing Item**

* Open the saved item and modify any relevant details (e.g., Shade Name).
* Upon making the changes, observe that the **Item Name** is automatically updated based on the formula.

### **Key Benefits of Using Item Name Formula in Modify Mode**

* **Ensures Consistency** – Maintains a standardized item naming format.
* **Enhances Efficiency** – Eliminates manual renaming and reduces errors.
* **Improves Accuracy** – Ensures that item names reflect the latest modifications.

By enabling **Modify Mode** for item name formulas, Logic ERP helps businesses maintain a structured and reliable inventory system.<br>

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://kb.logicerp.com/logic-erp-learning-hub-tutorials-and-best-practices/setups/setup-items/setup-items-multiple-pack-sizes/configuration-multiple-packs-sizes/configuration-options-1/apply-item-name-formula-in-modify-mode-also.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
