In this tutorial, we will learn how the Prompt for File Save feature works during GST Return generation in Logic ERP. This option allows users to choose the file name and save location before exporting GST reports or documents, providing greater control over file management.
Prompt users to select a file name before exporting reports.
Allow users to choose the desired save location.
Improve file organization and management.
Prevent automatic opening of exported files.
Provide better control over report storage.
Navigate to Reports/Queries and then Sale Registers.
Select GST Reports/Returns.
Open GST Returns Module.
Click on Configuration and open Configuration Settings 2.
Locate the option labeled as:
"Prompt for File Save"
This option controls whether the system displays a Save As dialog before exporting reports.
Default Configuration
The Prompt for File Save option is currently disabled.
Action
Select the required GST Return Type.
Choose the return period.
Click Generate to create the GST Return.
Export the Report
Click the Upload button to export the report to Excel.
Since the feature is Disabled:
The system directly generates and opens the Excel report.
No Save As dialog is displayed.
Users are not prompted to select a file name or save location.
Return to the GST Returns Configuration window.
Enable the option: "Prompt for File Save"
Save the configuration.
Export the Report Again
Generate the GST Return once again.
Click the Upload button to export the report.
Result
After enabling the feature:
The system displays a Save As dialog box before generating the Excel file.
Users can specify:
File Name
Save Location
Destination Folder
Save the File
Enter the preferred file name.
Select the desired destination folder.
Click Save.
For example:
File Name: GST_Return_April_2026.xlsx
Location: Downloads Folder
Result
The report is successfully saved in the selected location.
The exported file becomes available in the chosen folder for future access and sharing.

Allows customized file naming.
Helps organize GST reports efficiently.

Use meaningful file names that include the return type and reporting period.
