Objective of This Feature
Configure HSN display format for GST Returns.
Control HSN code length in reports.
Generate GST-compliant HSN summaries.
Simplify GST filing process.
Export GST data for portal upload.
Access to GST Returns Configuration
Go to GST Returns Module.
Click Configuration.
Locate the option labeled as:
“HSN Length”
Available Options: -
As Entered
Eight Digits
Six Digits
Four Digits
Two Digits
Not Required
Understand Default Behavior
By default: HSN Length is set to As Entered.
Show HSN Description Option.
Along with the As Entered option:
You can enable or disable: Show HSN Description.
Generate GST Return
Select GST Return Type.
Choose Required Time Period.
Click Generate.
Review HSN-Wise Summary
Navigation to HSN Tab.
System Behavior
The report displays HSN-wise summary.
HSN Codes are shown:
Exactly as maintained in the Item Master.
HSN Descriptions are also displayed:
If enabled.
Change HSN Length Format.
Action
Return to Configurat
ion Settings.Change HSN Length to:
Two Digits.
Important Note
When any option other than As Entered is selected:
Show HSN Description gets disabled automatically.
Reason: Shortened HSN formats cannot accurately map exact HSN descriptions.
Observe Updated Report
Generate the GST Return again.
System Behavior
HSN Codes are now displayed:
In Two-Digit Format.
Export GST Data
Available Options
Create: JSON File for GST Portal Upload.
Or Export Report Data to Excel.
Final Step
Proceed with GST Filing through the GST Portal.
