## How to Configure Label Printing by Unit Conversion Factors in Barcode Label Printing?

In this tutorial, we will learn how to configure **Units for Labels** in Logic ERP's Barcode Label Printing module. This option allows you to control whether barcode labels are printed based on the **total item quantity** or the **defined pack quantity**.

***

### Access to the Configuration

* Navigate to the **Barcode Label Printing** module.
* Open the **Configuration** section.
* Locate the option labeled as:

> **"Units for Labels"**

<figure><img src="https://4031188996-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXMVkjt8zqHBQX1c9QvFS%2Fuploads%2F63aiJNXUlAF1AbJUfXdV%2FCNF.png?alt=media&amp;token=0f838aa9-bc28-4097-9a58-163733fe949f" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Available Parameters**

The **"Units for Labels"** option provides two parameters:

* **Quantity:** Prints barcode labels according to the total quantity of the item.
* **Pack:** Prints barcode labels according to the number of packs defined for the item.

Let's explore both options one by one.

***

### Set Units for Labels to Quantity

* Set **"Units for Labels"** to **Quantity**.
* Save the configuration changes.

#### Print Barcode Labels

* Select the required **Purchase Voucher** for which you want to print the barcode.
* Select the required item from the voucher.
* Click **Create**.

The **Barcode Printing Design Selection** window will appear.

* Click **Yes** to print the barcode directly.
* Click **No** to open the **Barcode Design** window.
* Select **No**.

<figure><img src="https://4031188996-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXMVkjt8zqHBQX1c9QvFS%2Fuploads%2F6jrQ5KRLLUGAmzUonSo6%2FCreate.png?alt=media&amp;token=6eb1086e-c13a-4ac4-8fe2-2b604e0d24a1" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* Click the **Open** button.
* Select the required barcode from the available list.

<figure><img src="https://4031188996-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXMVkjt8zqHBQX1c9QvFS%2Fuploads%2F2jbwuKsxZLMkYbr7NbBc%2FOpen.png?alt=media&amp;token=0f4658e9-6358-4cbe-ba68-685155ec59c5" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* Click **Print Preview** to preview the barcode before printing.
* Alternatively, if you do not want to preview the barcode, you can directly click **Print** to print it.

<figure><img src="https://4031188996-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXMVkjt8zqHBQX1c9QvFS%2Fuploads%2Fy87kqbvEYUvP3vcNGqXV%2FPrint%20Preview%20-%20Qty%20Wise.png?alt=media&amp;token=49f8454e-643a-474e-86f4-14c543fd4bda" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Result**

* The print preview displays **10 barcode labels** for the item.
* This means that when **Units for Labels** is set to **Quantity**, the system prints one barcode label for each unit.

***

### Set Units for Labels to Pack

* Return to the **Barcode Label Printing Configuration** window.
* Set **"Units for Labels"** to **Pack**.

<figure><img src="https://4031188996-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXMVkjt8zqHBQX1c9QvFS%2Fuploads%2FcuOZUBdrQaCpZoJM7xgs%2FCNF%202.png?alt=media&amp;token=34f45ca4-af1f-4073-bda6-ad929a5c5f1c" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* Save the configuration changes.

#### Print Barcode Labels

* Select the same **Purchase Voucher**.
* Select the required item.
* Click **Create**.
* Open the barcode design and preview the labels.

<figure><img src="https://4031188996-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXMVkjt8zqHBQX1c9QvFS%2Fuploads%2FyabUj0mdex4k7QFPP9su%2FPack.png?alt=media&amp;token=16463097-01dc-4fbe-b33e-a27e13a78cca" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Result**

The print preview displays **1 barcode labels** for the item.

### Understand Pack-Wise Calculation

Let's take a quick look at the same **Purchase Voucher** to understand how the system calculates the quantity.

* The voucher shows a **pack quantity of 1**.
* Each selected pack contains **10 units**.
* Therefore, the total quantity is calculated as:

**1 Packs × 10 Units = 10 Units**

<figure><img src="https://4031188996-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXMVkjt8zqHBQX1c9QvFS%2Fuploads%2Fb3hUVU3flyatcyh2jnzH%2FPurchase%20Voucher.png?alt=media&amp;token=fb42717d-78c0-4814-bde9-3967f97955d6" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### System Behavior

* When **Units for Labels = Quantity**, the system prints **10 barcode labels**, representing 10 individual units.
* When **Units for Labels = Pack**, the system prints **1 barcode labels**, representing 1 packs.

***

### Key Benefits

* **Flexible Label Printing:** Print labels based on quantity or pack.
* **Accurate Pack-Wise Printing:** Generates labels according to the defined pack quantity.
* **Reduced Manual Work:** Automatically calculates the required number of labels.
* **Better Inventory Handling:** Supports both unit-wise and pack-wise barcode labeling.

#### Final Outcome

After configuring **"Units for Labels"**, Logic ERP allows you to control barcode label printing based on either the **total item quantity** or the **defined pack quantity**. This provides greater flexibility and accuracy while generating barcode labels.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://kb.logicerp.com/logic-erp-learning-hub-tutorials-and-best-practices/reports-queries/item-report/barcode-labels-printing/barcode-labels-printing-configuration/units-for-labels.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
