## How to Allow Barcode Label Printing for Free Units in Purchases?

In this tutorial, we will learn how to configure Logic ERP to **print barcode labels for free units received during purchase transactions**. This feature allows free quantities to be included when generating barcode labels along with the purchased quantity.

***

### Open Barcode Label Printing Configuration

* Navigate to the **Barcode Label Printing** module.
* Open the **Configuration** section.
* Locate the option labeled as:

> **"Print Labels for Free Units in Purchase"**

<figure><img src="https://4031188996-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXMVkjt8zqHBQX1c9QvFS%2Fuploads%2F9EGKZXdaGvAyWmBjgxfI%2FCNF.png?alt=media&amp;token=9ff7d7a5-e7ba-471d-add8-d0a5732298d5" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Default Behavior

* Keep this option **disabled** for now.
* Let's first observe how barcode labels are generated without including free units.
* Before checking the default behavior, let us first review the **Purchase Bill** once.

***

### Review the Purchase Voucher

* Open the **Purchase Voucher** that will be used for barcode printing.
* Review the quantities entered for the items.

<figure><img src="https://4031188996-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXMVkjt8zqHBQX1c9QvFS%2Fuploads%2Ft5LSfBICRFywfyyOIDye%2FPurchase%20Coucher.png?alt=media&amp;token=5fe22885-b220-4ab9-a21b-7ce7e838ec79" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Current Setup

In this example:

* The first item has a **purchased quantity of 10 units**.
* The second item has **2 free units**.

Now, let's verify how the barcode labels are generated when the free-unit option is disabled.

***

### Print Barcode Labels with the Option Disabled

* Return to the **Barcode Label Printing** window.
* Select the required **Purchase Voucher**.
* Select the required item.
* Click **Create**.

The **Barcode Printing Design Selection** window will appear.

* Click **Yes** to print the barcode directly.
* Click **No** to open the **Barcode Design** window.
* Select **No** to continue.

<figure><img src="https://4031188996-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXMVkjt8zqHBQX1c9QvFS%2Fuploads%2FTQKSGW9S4bBphI356yPN%2FCreate.png?alt=media&amp;token=28b0b6ae-a3db-4838-b547-6490007875c1" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* Click **Open** and select the required barcode design.

<figure><img src="https://4031188996-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXMVkjt8zqHBQX1c9QvFS%2Fuploads%2FIAG4QWTXtAEKDMkv3C84%2FOpen.png?alt=media&amp;token=0814a310-741b-4e3d-845f-57f01734d31d" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* Open the **Print Preview**.

<figure><img src="https://4031188996-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXMVkjt8zqHBQX1c9QvFS%2Fuploads%2FJU3o4Iv2TnHcE1f47EuT%2FPrint%20Preview%20-%2010.png?alt=media&amp;token=d585224c-7718-4031-94ea-b7c9a3bad98d" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Result**

* The barcode labels are generated only for the **purchased quantity**.
* The **free quantity is not included** in the barcode label printing when the option is disabled.

***

### Enable Printing for Free Units

* Return to the **Barcode Label Printing Configuration** window.
* Enable **"Print Labels for Free Units in Purchase"**.
* Save the configuration changes.

***

### Verify Barcode Printing for Free Units

* Return to the **Barcode Label Printing** window.
* Select the same **Purchase Voucher**.
* Select the required item.
* Click **Create**.
* Open the barcode design and check the **Print Preview**.

<figure><img src="https://4031188996-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXMVkjt8zqHBQX1c9QvFS%2Fuploads%2FSdrWzcvSR3Xd7KCTuY3s%2FPrint%20Preview%20-%2012.png?alt=media&amp;token=6beb9b6c-849c-44be-8fea-bebbccb302a7" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Result**

The system now includes the **2 free units** and generates their barcode labels along with the purchased quantity.

#### System Behavior

* **Option Disabled:** Barcode labels are generated only for the purchased quantity.
* **Option Enabled:** Barcode labels are generated for both the purchased quantity and the free quantity.

***

### Key Benefits

* **Complete Label Coverage:** Includes free units in barcode label printing.
* **Accurate Inventory Identification:** Ensures free units also receive barcode labels.
* **Automated Processing:** Eliminates the need to print labels separately for free quantities.
* **Better Purchase Handling:** Supports accurate barcode generation for promotional or complimentary units.

#### Final Outcome

After enabling **"Print Labels for Free Units in Purchase"**, Logic ERP includes free quantities received during purchase transactions when generating barcode labels, ensuring that both **purchased and free units** are properly labeled.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://kb.logicerp.com/logic-erp-learning-hub-tutorials-and-best-practices/reports-queries/item-report/barcode-labels-printing/barcode-labels-printing-configuration/print-labels-for-free-units-in-purchase.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
