# Encrypted Rate Prefix

**YouTube:** [How to Encrypt Rates in Barcode Label Printing?](https://youtu.be/e2vzqmDAheM)

## How to Encrypt Rates in Barcode Label Printing?

In this tutorial, we will learn how to configure the **"Encrypted Rate Prefix"** in Logic ERP to add a predefined prefix before encrypted rate values displayed on barcode labels.

***

### Objective of This Feature

* Encrypt rate values on barcode labels
* Add a customized prefix before encrypted rates
* Improve rate confidentiality
* Map numeric values with unique alphabets
* Control how encrypted rates are displayed on barcode labels

***

### Observe the Default Rate Display

* Navigate to the **Barcode Label Printing** module.
* Select the required **Purchase Voucher**.
* Select the required item and click **Create**.
* In the Barcode Printing Design Selection window, click **No**.
* Click **Open** and select the required barcode design.

**Result**

The rate values are displayed in their **normal numeric format without encryption**.

***

### Configure Number-to-Alphabet Mapping

* Open the **Assign Alphabets to Number** module.
* Here, numbers from **0 to 9** are displayed in the Number column.
* Assign a unique alphabet against each number.

<figure><img src="https://4031188996-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXMVkjt8zqHBQX1c9QvFS%2Fuploads%2F0J3woXkXj7fzGocjo5FM%2FAssign%20Alphabet%20to%20Number.png?alt=media&amp;token=524335b5-e86e-48b6-8da6-e59067b3e066" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* Save the configuration.

**Note**

This number-to-alphabet mapping is used by the software to convert numeric rate values into their encrypted format during barcode label printing.

***

### Enable Rate Encryption Feature&#x20;

* Return to the **Barcode Label Printing** module.
* Open the configuration.
* Locate the **Display Encrypted** section.
* Select the rate field for which encryption is required.

<figure><img src="https://4031188996-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXMVkjt8zqHBQX1c9QvFS%2Fuploads%2FCmKRT24BOT6ecA4OlXhk%2FCNF.png?alt=media&amp;token=2e7e70ff-a110-490e-9425-fed280e179a3" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Example**

* Select **MRP** as the rate field.
* Now print the barcode again without configuring an encrypted rate prefix.

<figure><img src="https://4031188996-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXMVkjt8zqHBQX1c9QvFS%2Fuploads%2Fm6TcaN6LLRTG8TW4BlOA%2FMRP.png?alt=media&amp;token=e4169393-a2ab-46cf-9a20-39a1b7d60995" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Result**

* The MRP is now displayed in its **encrypted format**, but no prefix is displayed before the encrypted rate.

***

### Configure Encrypted Rate Prefix

* Return to the **Barcode Label Printing Configuration**.
* Locate the **"Encrypted Rate Prefix"** option.
* Enter the required number as the prefix.

<figure><img src="https://4031188996-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXMVkjt8zqHBQX1c9QvFS%2Fuploads%2Fng6US0bntzjDp1CULni5%2FCNG%202.png?alt=media&amp;token=9a66c8a3-1c46-4c01-a7c0-2df42ba17e7a" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* Save the configuration.

**How It Works**

* The number entered as the prefix is linked to an alphabet through the **Assign Alphabets to Number** configuration.
* The corresponding alphabet is then displayed as a prefix before the encrypted rate on the barcode label.

***

### Verify the Encrypted Rate Prefix

* Select the same **Purchase Voucher**.
* Open the barcode design.
* Preview the barcode label.

<figure><img src="https://4031188996-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FXMVkjt8zqHBQX1c9QvFS%2Fuploads%2FjHr4KnWz3IeOoWz1bofY%2FPrefix.png?alt=media&amp;token=3136103c-c087-4d3a-a8cc-603843a826e4" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Result**

The configured prefix is now successfully displayed **before the encrypted MRP** on the barcode label.

***

### Key Benefits

* **Rate Confidentiality:** Keeps actual rate values concealed on barcode labels.
* **Custom Prefix:** Allows a predefined prefix to be added to encrypted rates.
* **Flexible Mapping:** Supports customized number-to-alphabet encryption.
* **Better Data Security:** Makes actual rates difficult to interpret directly.
* **Controlled Display:** Lets users choose which rate fields should be encrypted.

***

### Important Note

The encrypted rate prefix works in combination with the **Assign Alphabets to Number** mapping. Make sure each required number has a corresponding alphabet before configuring the prefix.

***

### Final Outcome

After configuring **"Encrypted Rate Prefix"**, Logic ERP displays the selected rate in encrypted format on the barcode label, with the configured alphabet prefix automatically added before the encrypted rate.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://kb.logicerp.com/logic-erp-learning-hub-tutorials-and-best-practices/reports-queries/item-report/barcode-labels-printing/barcode-labels-printing-configuration/encrypted-rate-prefix.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
