How to Configure the Production Process Type in Job Orders?

In this tutorial, we will learn how to define the Default Document Process Type in Job Order Configuration. This feature allows you to set a default process type for every new Job Order, ensuring consistency and reducing manual selection during entry.

Objective of This Feature

  • Set a default Process Type for Job Orders.

  • Reduce manual data entry.

  • Maintain consistency across Job Order transactions.

  • Support different manufacturing workflows.

  • Allow users to modify the Process Type when required.

Access to the Job Order Configuration

  • Open the Job Order Configuration window.

  • Navigate to the Other Settings section.

  • Locate the option labeled as:

"Doc Process Type"

This option provides two process types:

  • Sequential

  • Discrete

Select the required Process Type as the default.

Enable the Process Type Field

To allow users to view or modify the Process Type during Job Order entry:

Action

  • Click Column Locks.

  • Search for the Process Type field.

  • Unlock the field to make it visible during Job Order entry.

  • Save the configuration.

Create a New Job Order

  • Initiate a New Job Order entry.

  • The Process Type field in the Header Details section is automatically populated with the default value selected in the configuration.

Modify the Process Type (Optional)

If the Process Type field is unlocked:

  • You can manually change the Process Type during Job Order entry.

  • The selected value will apply only to the current Job Order.

Key Benefits

  • Automatically applies the preferred Process Type.

  • Reduces repetitive manual selection.

  • Ensures consistency in Job Order creation.

  • Supports different production process requirements.

  • Improves efficiency during data entry.

Best Practice Tips

  • Select the default Process Type based on your standard manufacturing workflow.

  • Keep the Process Type field unlocked if users need flexibility to change it during entry.

  • Lock the field if a fixed Process Type should be enforced for all Job Orders.

  • Periodically review the default setting to ensure it aligns with current business processes.

Final Outcome

By configuring the Doc Process Type option, Logic ERP automatically assigns the selected Sequential or Discrete process type to every new Job Order. This streamlines data entry, ensures consistency, and allows users to modify the process type during entry when the field is unlocked.
