# Allow Change Consumed Item Quantity

**YouTube:** [How to Allow Changes to Consumed Item Quantities in Assembling?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUuT0zCtXQ8)

## How to Allow Changes to Consumed Item Quantities in Assembling?

In this tutorial, we will learn how the **Allow Change Consumed Item Quantity** feature works in the Assembling Module of Logic ERP. This feature enables users to modify the quantity of consumed components during Assembly Entry, providing greater flexibility when the actual consumption differs from the predefined Bill of Materials (BOM).

***

### Objective of This Feature

* Allow modification of consumed item quantities during assembly.
* Provide flexibility for actual production requirements.
* Support variations in material consumption.
* Improve accuracy in assembly transactions.
* Reduce the need to modify the BOM for temporary changes.

***

### Access to the Assembling Configuration

* Go to the **Assembling Module**.
* Open the **Configuration** window.
* Locate the option labeled as:

> **"Allow Change Consumed Item Quantity"**

<figure><img src="/files/6aXWFC2PvBd9RPzNVLbJ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

By default, this option is disabled.

***

### Observe the Default Behavior

Before enabling the feature, let's review its default behavior.

* Create a **New Assembly Entry**.
* Select the **Finished Item**.
* Review the Assembly Information.
* Locate one of the consumed components and try changing its **Quantity Per Unit** from **1** to **2**.

<figure><img src="/files/WzoLg30Z18iAU7ijhaPK" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Result**

Since **Allow Change Consumed Item Quantity** is disabled:

* The **Quantity Per Unit** field is locked.
* The consumed item quantity cannot be modified.

***

### Let's Enable the Feature

* Return to the **Configuration** window.
* Enable the option: **"Allow Change Consumed Item Quantity"**
* Save the configuration.

***

### Create a New Assembly Entry

* Create a **New Assembly Entry**.
* Select the same **Finished Item**.
* Open the Assembly Information.

**Example**

* Again, change the **Quantity Per Unit** from **1** to **2**.

<figure><img src="/files/5paA0eCFyPxfjNRrO1gq" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Result**

Since the feature is enabled:

* The **Quantity Per Unit** field becomes editable.
* You can modify the consumed item quantity as required before saving the assembly.

***

### Key Benefits

* Provides flexibility during assembly transactions.
* Supports actual production consumption.
* Reduces dependency on modifying the BOM.
* Improves production accuracy.
* Enables quick adjustments for changing manufacturing requirements.

***

### Best Practice Tips

* Enable this feature only for users authorized to modify consumption quantities.
* Verify quantity changes before saving the assembly entry.
* Use this option when actual material consumption differs from the standard BOM.
* Regularly review assembly transactions to ensure inventory accuracy.

***

### Final Outcome

After enabling **Allow Change Consumed Item Quantity**, Logic ERP allows users to edit the **Quantity Per Unit** of consumed components during Assembly Entry. This provides greater flexibility in handling real-world production scenarios while ensuring accurate inventory consumption and assembly records.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://kb.logicerp.com/logic-erp-learning-hub-tutorials-and-best-practices/inventory/assembling/assembling-configuration/allow-change-consumed-item-quantity.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
